1. Check out what the Freepers are saying about the volcano stuff
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2194262/posts

A surprising fraction is not bang your head against the wall stupid. A good portion think it is necessary spending. Those trying to support Jindal are arguing that while necessary, it belongs in the budget and not the stimulus. Even more surprising, some are arguing that it is stimulative! Freepers saying that government spending is stimulative . . . my mind, she is blown.

Even if it weren't stimulative (which I don't think is true), perhaps it is timely and that is a good reason that it was in the stimulus and not postponed for the budget. Mt. Redoubt is a cause for concern and they don't have sufficient funds to fully monitor its activity. The sooner those funds are freed up, the better.

4. There are a lot of Freeper types in areas around volcanoes
Loggers come to mind. Hunters. Millions of people in the Pacific Northwest were affected by Mt. St. Helens eruption and hundreds of millions live within sight of Mt. Ranier, Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Hood and Mt. Baker. You don't have to be a Freeper to understand the need to monitor volcanoes when you live in the shadow of one.

It beat the Katrina reference for utter stupidity.

5. Isn't the "volcano pork" in Alaska?
I thought he was slapping palin with that remark. He went hero-public with his desire to refuse stimulus money, and then pressured palin with the volcano remark. I can already see his 2012 anti-palin campaign message as they could be future combatants.

I think that's done now. Dang it! :)
