Dallas Morning News responds to Pickle's claim she can't get the newspaper each day
Edited on Fri Feb-27-09 12:23 PM by rainbow4321
hey, Laura...ever hear of the saying about not picking a fight with people who buy ink by the barrel???

http://trailblazersblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2009/02/laura-bush-wants-her-dallas-ne.html

After years of having everything they wanted right at their finger tips, George and Laura Bush are settling into their new Preston Hollow home as private citizens. And they're finding that sometimes the little things are the most difficult to get. Like the newspaper.

In an interview on ABC, to be broadcast Friday on Good Morning America, Laura Bush offers this observation about life in Dallas:

"The only thing we don't have are the newspapers. It has been slow to get The Dallas Morning News delivered," she said. "People bring the newspaper to us later in the day. It's just not being delivered yet."

UPDATE: Publisher Jim Moroney says the Dallas Morning News has been delivering the newspaper every day -- but the closest the delivery person can get is the police security stop that restricts traffic on the street.

Said Moroney: "Since we flew the paper to Washington for the Bushes and delivered it to the White House for eight years, we automatically shifted their subscription to their Dallas home after the President left office. Because the police won't let anyone past the road block near the Bush Dallas residence without security clearance, we leave the paper with the police guards near the house bright and early every morning. We'd love to be able to provide service to their home, but that hasn't been possible so far."

6. At least she was able to name a specific newspaper that she doesn't read,
instead of having to lie about not reading all of them...

:)

13. Now that's crossing a line...
We both know Bush likes the comics, and pickles probably reads the love columns, vicariously living a happy love life not married to that brain dead twit.

Basically responding "we got it to the WHITE HOUSE, why the fuck would we NOT get it to your house in DALLAS????

I don't blame him..she went on national TV and trashed their services.

Betcha she won't be going on nat'l TV to APOLOGIZE.

Even if it is a rightwing rag, she fucked up big time and he was right to publically respond instead of correcting the problem with a private phone call...something PICKLES could have done to find out what was going on in the first place...or at least gotten one of her minions to do so.

19. That's not it
The security people are stealing the paper. It's so hard to get good help nowadays! The recession seems to be hitting everyone, and the Bushes demand to know what's being done about it!

27. THAT would be the Dallas taxpayers...
Edited on Fri Feb-27-09 04:38 PM by rainbow4321
The same taxpayers who the Dallas PD told that they would NOT release the tax money for "backing up the SS" (not my phrase, the local news used it).

He seems to have his own police squadron...they also were at SMU when he popped in there earlier in the week.

I'm thinking they need to leave the DPD and local tax money out of it..have chimp foot the bill himself for Xe (aka Blackwater) to stand watch.

He has BOTH the SS **and** the Dallas PD guarding/escorting him.

A couple days ago the ABC affiliate had footage of someone walking Barney and Miss Beazley.

This and Georgie's appearance at a Dallas elementary school ("Do you know who I am?") are high comedy.

20. The Clinton's home in Chappaqua is on a cul-de-sac off of a main road. When I went to see it
there was only a minivan (secret service, I'm sure) in their driveway. Not a barricade in sight.

Tells you something about Shrub, doesn't it?

Hey, maybe they could get their paper faster if they moved, say, to Gitmo!

32. And the gate to the cul de sac is not even built yet
per an article a few days ago in the DMN.
So...who or what is stopping the paper delivery guy? Dallas PD? SS?
Are the rest of the neighbors not getting their papers, either??
They make it sound like their house is off in some secluded area with no neighbors when it is really on a cul de sac with houses around them, granted, the house right next door is the SS house (that was in another DMN article, and Pickles referred to the SS house in her "we had no chairs, we had to get some from the SS next door' whine).

How nice would it be to have newspaper delivery be the biggest problem in life?

:eyes:

31. I'm thinking they need to wake her ass when the paper is actually delivered
Which going by what time I hear OUR delivery person go thru my cul de sac (and the multiple "kah-thuds" of the papers hitting the driveways' cement)..would be about 5 am.
Most likely, the "people bringing the paper later in the day" are the people at the security perimeter when the paper is delivered.
