So I am in a hotel room in Boston. I am watching MSNBC. Seething.
We've not had cable at home for two years, so I only watch this when I am travelling (infrequently). And I am so, so pissed off at the simplistic, stupid way that even the "good guy" media like Shuster plays it. You gotta be kidding? Tom DeLay? The idiot Bush woman? Jim Cramer? Harold Ford? Tucker Bounds? All Rush all the time? Why hasn't Obama rescued the stock market in just a few months? The Stock Market as the "real deal" when it is full of Ponzi schemes and other shady deals?

There are people who should be in jail who are being treated like they are great sages! Why? Why? Why?

Incredible short sightedness, reactivity, partisanship, grandstanding. I don't think that these types of shows do anything productive for our lives. They incite rage and anger - from both sides. These topics are way too complex for soundbites and idiot talking heads.

I need to turn this thing off or there will be one broken flat screen TeeVee in this here hotel room...there is already one very angry inhabitant in this room!

14. As a former traveling man, myself...
Who has stayed in many, many hotels of varying quality, trust me when I tell you: hours of fitful and fruitless masturbation to bad hotel porn is a far more productive use of your time than watching those chuckleheads opine.

Although both acts are remarkably similar on a philosophical level. ;-)

4. Yeah, I'm like you... no cable at home, and only watch when I'm in a hotel
and I'm always incredulous at the stupidity and reminded why I dumped cable in the first place.

:argh:

6. Don't meant to increase your rage
but Tweety had Delay on last week and closed the segment by saying, "Mr. Delay you are always welcome on the show!"

And according to some other DUer, ended the show today with the same salutation.

I think it's about time we let him now, that while the minority needs to be able to voice their opinion, he might want to find some non-criminals.

13. Get out of the hotel and go to a bar outside of the tourist zone or in Cambridge.
Pick one with TVs glued to the cable snooze shows. Sit back and listen to the others at the bar critique them. Boston is one of the cities where everyone has an opinion about politics (and just about everything else, come to think of it.);)

I am a big fan of the microbrew! Good idea, though, going to listen to the reaction banter to the talking TeeVee chuckeheads.

32. It is, but...
Comcast has been moving MSNBC to the digital tier. I've never been to a hotel with a digital cable box. Even one that I went to that had HDTVs still had analog cable. (DUMB!!!)

28. Slingbox...A Great Toy For The Road...

It allows you to connect to your home Cable, Satellite or DVD from anywhere you can get a broadband connection. It's been my salvation on the road where most hotels give you the choice of Faux and Chicken Noodle Nuze...little else. I need my CSPIN fix in the morning...plus Keith and Rachel at night. Plus many hotels still don't carry Comedy Central. It's kept me sane on many a roadtrip!
