World's largest watch store prepares for Daylight Savings Time

Cell phones automatically update in the wee hours of the morning, leaving you not to worry about missing that morning meeting or waking up late for church Sunday morning.


Most household appliances can be altered with just one simple touch of a button.


But imagine what it's like to have to manually change the hands of time hundreds of times.


This is what happens at Tourneau, the World’s Largest Watch Store, located inside the Somerset Collection in Troy. With an inventory of about 2,000 watches, 500 of which had to manually be set forward an hour in observance of Daylight Savings Time, which occurs at 2 a.m. early Sunday morning.


“As far as advancing, we have about 400-500 quartz watches in the store, so all of those get reset,” said Ahmed Haidar, General Manager.

1. Most watch stores stop their quartz watches from continually

running to save the batteries. Doubt they are changing all the watches but heck, getting your name in the news these days ......

3. Probably 85% of watches at Tourneau are automatic, not quartz

So anything running would have to be reset.
