Has anyone ever "sat in" for Jon Stewart on the Daily Show?
It just occurred to me that I don't recall ever having seen a guest host on the the Daily Show. I don't watch the show regularly, just once or twice a week, so I may have missed episodes hosted by alternatives.

3. I think Garafolo might have sat in for him in the earlier days.
I could be thinking of another show. Anyone? I know Janeane did sit in for someone in a talk format.

4. It's a pre-recorded show
There's no need for a sit-in. He wants to take a vacation, he records extra shows for those days, or has re-runs.

6. Do you mean frequent vacations? I don't know what a liberal vacation is.

7. I know Colbert & Carell both hosted TDS before...
...I seem to recall Sam Bee did, as well (although I'm not positive).

9. Craig Kilborn hosted it before Jon Stewart.
I don't recall stand-ins, but I am not an avid viewer these days.

13. I used to really like Kilborn on TDS
but never watched his major network show

it took a while before Stewart grew into the show-- he was actually a little lame initially when he started, imo

lately though, it seems only Jon does the show, though they used to have guest hosts

10. Corddry did
IIRC, Rob Corddry hosted the show at the last minute when one of Stewart's kids was born. It was a good show.

11. Yes, when one of his children was born, it was a last-minute thing. (n/t)

12. I do remember Colbert sitting in.
But I didn't see the show pre-Stewart. I agree that there are way too many repeats, but I did have the pleasure of being in the audience last spring and, though the guest wasn't notable, a producer friend of Jon's who was scheduled at the last minute, the show, and Jon, were just terrific! :woohoo:
