Investigators want to know: Who's the woman who keeps abandoning her newborns?
This is really strange:

http://newsgrinder.blogspot.com/2007/03/its-happened-three-times-newborns-all.html

She barely has time to give birth between the abandonings. It may not even be her who's doing it. Could be the daddy, could be the parents (if she's a young girl). Such a mystery.

2. Would you also bet she doesn't live in that area?
Seems like the old lady who's quoted is right -- you can't have that many pregnancies come and go without anyone noticing there's no baby around afterward. And the community is rural, a farming area. I'm envisioning a close-knit type of place.

8. I know, you would think somebody would..
I hope they find this girl real soon, she's obviously in deep trouble.

3. That's a really strange story...
you would think that in such a small community, somebody would come forward. It sounds like it's probably a very young girl who is being sexually exploited. Very sad.

9. I wonder if california has a safe-baby law in place to
prevent prosecution for abandonment of a mom who leaves her baby at a hospital, firestation, or police station? We have it in Texas and I suspect it has prevented some dumpster babies.

10. We have that law in Illinois, too.
But I think they have to be newborns only, three days old or less.

I wonder if there are some mothers who need the law for babies a bit older.

I live in a small, rural community, too. There was a girl who came here as a runaway. She was taken advantage of by several men in the community. She had a baby, but had him removed from her care when he was a toddler. She was visibly pregnant again, and suddenly not pregnant. There was no baby in evidence. The police spoke to her about what had happened to her baby. I don't know what her explanation was, but someone certainly noticed.

11. We have that, but I don't recall hearing of anyone ever using it.
