God Vs. The Bible? Cenk interviews John Armstrong, author of this controversial book.

Does God's Creation Discredit Christian Scripture?

to watch/listen to the 11 and a half minute interview. It's not a youtube clip, it'll open up in Windows Media Player, Quicktime, etc.

Oh, and the author *does* believe in God. He just doesn't think the NT and OT have anything to do with it, etc.

2. Sounds kind of like the guys that started the US
Some kind of a creator, but nothing too specific and certainly not the way the Christians frame it.

4. Right, a deist.
But I think people assume he's an atheist or agnostic based on the title of his book.

8. SOME of the Founders. Many were complete nonbelievers.
But yes, of those who believed, most of those were deist.

10. Divide and conquer, though.
I'd love to see them argue among themselves over whether they could trust their bibles.

Not holding my breath...

11. Mark Twain had a few words about the Bible.
"The Bible is a book with some beautiful poetry, a blood stained history, a wealth of obscenity, and upwards of 10,000 lies."

19. Have you ever read Twain's "The Mysterious Stranger"?
It's my favorite short story.

13. Wow, I think that guy and I must have been separated at birth
Not just the ideas, with which I wholly agree, but his mannerisms and ways of speaking. He sounds EXACTLY like I do in the podcast I did with Cameron Reilly.

20. I've long felt that God has almost nothing to do with religion.
Edited on Fri Mar-20-09 11:24 AM by TexasObserver
They all lash their dogma to God in some fashion. Religion is about imposing ungodly rules on fellow humans and calling it God's will.

Well, except UU and maybe Quakers.
