Are Corporate Jets going to be evil in every case ?
I don't have a problem with using "bailout" money to buy a newer, saver plane for the Corporation I am supporting with tax dollars to use to further "our" business. I suspect the aircraft industry feels the same way.

1. I'd like to know why bailed-out companies need a private jet and flight crew
Instead of just buying a ticket like everyone else.

5. Why Travel At All? Are Their Trips Really Necessary?
In today's "interconnected" world, why are the jets or trips or big sories necessary? This is especially the case if the company is in such dire financial straits that it requires our tax money to keep them afloat. If they need our dime to keep their doors open, then they can travel like the rest of us do.

Cheers...

14. A lot of schmoozing is still done face to face
Handshakes and dinners and all of that.

Otherwise, I completely agree with you!

7. The justification is usually lost time.
Also on the private flight they can work,

13. I accept that that's their justification, but I still call bullshit
They can work just fine on a commercial flight, and if they're not taking advantage of layover time, that's their problem. After all, when the computers go down, the higher-ups still demand that the workers keep busy...

2. No! + These EVIL JERKS who are being bailed-out should not glean more than $500,000 at the top.
This EVIL GREED on Wall Street that has moved the wealth upward MUST END. :grr: :nuke:

3. In the current economic climate, extravagance should be eschewed.
Remodeled offices, multi-million dollar bonuses, sleek corporate jets, and so forth don't sit well with a citizenry whose homes are being foreclosed, whose jobs are being shipped abroad, and whose health care does not exist.

It's like eating in front of someone who is hungry.

4. Multi million dollar deals are not spur of the moment..
Do you really think that corporate jets are for doing more business or getting the execs more time to spend recreating. There is planning involved and the execs can spend an extra hour doing their job.

6. I get the need for corporate jets, however
if a company needs a bailout then I wouldn't make that kind of financial commitment at this time instead I would use fractional ownership to offset the need to purchase a new jet at this time and extend the usage of technology to mitigate the need to travel in the first place.

17. Good compromise
I'm not against the existence of such things; they have a legitimate purpose. But like anything else, one should have to earn the privilege rather than having it subsidized by the taxpayer.

15. Hee...that's so funny.
These assholes own the mainstream media....of course the orders to every outlet is to favor them. They started months ago with the constant hammering of the "it's the people who took out the bad mortgages that are the problem" meme.

Don't forget their paid message board spammers that they have as well. They pay people to spam liberal message boards with RW talking points. They are constantly getting outed here at DU.

16. Only among the ignorant.
As long as commercial air travel sucks donkey balls, there will be demand for private jets.
