There are so many double standards floating around that I can't keep them straight anymore
Edited on Mon Mar-23-09 11:12 AM by Phoebe Loosinhouse
corporate jets good for Wall street - bad for automakers

executive contracts sacrosanct - UAW workers not so much

fiscal conservatism when talking about healthcare, but never about defense

"deficits don't matter" according to Cheney and ignored by Republicans and media under Bush/"Oh my God! the deficit! the deficit!" under Obama, we can't possibly fund healthcare

doesn't matter if Bush takes more vacation then any other President in history, but Obama has no time to do town halls and go on TV.

Bush smirks and giggles like Richard Widmark in Kiss of Death in half his public appearances and it goes unremarked. Obama smiles while being interviewed and is asked if he's "punch drunk".

Press corps at White House briefings under Bush laid on their backs and waited for their tummies to be scratched /snarls and lunges constantly under Obama. (They're the "public watchdogs" don'tcha know?)

Elliot Spitzer resigns for consorting with prostitutes, Diaper Dave Vitter lectures us about his newfound fiscal frugality.

Al Gore is "sore loserman" while Norm Coleman stalls the inevitable with no comment

Bush has giant hump on back and says "I'm not through" to his invisible coach during debate, no interest by media BUT now they think Obama uses the teleprompter way too much.

I could go on and on, I'm sure I missed some major stuff.

One thing I noticed on yesterday's episode of Meet the Mess, when they spoke of the publics disillusionment in institutions as contributing to the general lack of confidence, Gregory or one of his guests briefly mentioned the media, but the round table dropped that like a radioactive potato. No further analysis on that subject was forthcoming.

Thanks for the thread, Phoebe Loosinhouse.

10. I haven't watched tv news with any regularity since 2004.
But none of this surprises me, and is mainly why I never watch these people anymore.
