In Baghdad their shooting our kids down
While we try to save our town

And working folks need a few more bucks
Gas gets harder to keep in trucks
Still we can’t forget the cost
Of those who die for freedom lost

It’s not a new type education
Or partiers on vacation
It’s the new American way
Of forgetting yesterday
Now let’s grab all we can
While Wall street loots our Uncle Sam
We’re not playing a funny game
or finding reckless troops to blame

God won’t save our homes or them
or pocketbooks they’re gonna skim
Yeah homeless folks won’t get fed
while they’re killing our best dead

They’re who got us in this mess
