29. Believe it or not, I had a '78 Spyder that ran perfectly for 35k miles, then I sold it.
I probably got out when the getting was good. But it was absolutely the most fun to drive auto I've ever, ever owned. I still miss it every day.

33. Me too, I've had 3 Fiats.
That joke pisses me off because it's almost universally spoken by non-Fiat owners, or former Fiat owners who expected miracles from their "Poor-Man's Ferrari" and would never be caught dead with a ratchet and screwdriver. The dirty little secret is that most cars produced during Fiat's tenure in America were rust-prone pieces of crap. When was the last time you saw a 1975 Pinto on the road? How about a Fiero? All are gone, yet lots of old Fiats remain. That speaks volumes.

IMO Fiats, especially the 124 were amazing cars for what they cost.

9. Whats is really funny is that FIAT is buying old, broken down Chrysler.
Just in case you need to be refreshed what FIAT really stands for.

Fiat S.p.A. (an acronym for Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino (Italian Automobile Factory of Turin) is an Italian automobile manufacturer, engine manufacturer, financial and industrial group based in Turin in the Piedmont region. Founded in 1899 by a group of investors including Giovanni Agnelli. Fiat has also manufactured tanks and aircraft.

The group's activities were initially focused on the industrial production of cars, industrial and agricultural vehicles. Over time it has diversified into many other fields, and the group now has activities in a wide range of sectors in industry and financial services. It is Italy's largest industrial concern. It also has significant worldwide operations, operating in 61 countries with 1,063 companies that employ over 223,000 people, 111,000 of whom are outside Italy.

Fiat Auto is the largest vehicle manufacturer in Italy, with a range of cars starting from small microcars to sports cars made by Ferrari, and vans and trucks ranging from the Ducato to Iveco commercial trucks. Besides Fiat Group Automobiles S.p.A, the Fiat Group automotive companies include Ferrari S.p.A., Iveco S.p.A. and Maserati S.p.A. The Fiat Group Automobiles S.p.A. companies include: Abarth & C. S.p.A., Alfa Romeo Automobiles S.p.A., Fiat Automobiles S.p.A., Fiat Professional and Lancia Automobiles S.p.A.. Ferrari S.p.A. is owned by the Fiat Group, but is run autonomously.

The European Car of the Year award, Europe's premier automotive trophy for the past 40 years, has been awarded twelve times to the Fiat Group, more than any other manufacturer. Most recently the Fiat Nuova 500 has won the award for European Car of the Year 2008.<4>

List of Fiat Group models which have won European Car of the Year:

1967: Fiat 124
1970: Fiat 128
1972: Fiat 127
1980: Lancia Delta
1984: Fiat Uno
1989: Fiat Tipo
1995: Fiat Punto
1996: Fiat Bravo/Brava
1998: Alfa Romeo 156
2001: Alfa Romeo 147
2004: Fiat Panda
2008: Fiat 500

Fiat Group owns CNH Global (which includes Case Construction, Case IH, Flexi-Coil, Kobelco, New Holland, New Holland Construction, and Steyr); and Fiat-Hitachi Construction. CNH is the second largest agricultural equipment manufacturer in the world after Deere & Company. It is also the third largest producer of construction equipment after Caterpillar Inc. and Komatsu. CNH accounts for around 20% of revenues.<5> CNH is the most prized company inside Fiat because it has driven growth and is very profitable. It also shows great promise for growth in third-world markets.

The major Italian component maker Magneti Marelli is owned by Fiat, and in turn owns the other brands Carello, Automotive Lighting, Siem, Cofap, Jaeger, Solex, Veglia Borletti, Vitaloni, and Weber; other accessory brands include Riv-Skf and Brazilian Cofap.

24. I wasn't as impressed with the women, quite frankly, as I was with the men.
Northern Italian men are VERY attractive and very well dressed, compared to American men. Altho I must say, I saw three of the most gorgeous men I've ever seen walking across the Rialto Bridge in Venice...I'm afraid I stopped dead in my tracks and just stared at them (I'm embarrassed to say).

To me, Rio de Janiero gets the prize in most beautiful women. I was there many years ago but I was surprised to see fabulously beautiful women just walking down the street one morning. The mixed bloodlines must have something to do with it cuz I have seen beautiful men from there also...

52. Ah, yes, "Lucas, Prince of Darkness"
My first car was an MG Midget. That was good for six months. I spent more time with my arse sticking out of the hood than with it warming the driver's seat.

Forget that notion.

I've got an 11-year-old Dodge pickup I dearly love that does my farm-work. I've got a 2-year-old Nissan Versa I equally love for the mileage and peppiness that gets me to work and back (41 miles each way). It's not the Z's I used to have, but for a family car, it's not bad.
