How do you rate a thread
Threads that interest me have convoluted sub-threads. Not just a load of 'me toos' to the original post.

1. If you think that the OP is worth a recommendation, go ahead...
I do. Most people read the OP, but don't check out all the convoluted sub-threads... :-)

2. Not everyone. I enjoy spiritied discussion and multiple perspectives.

Far ranging sub-threads are interesting and add nuance to the topic.

8. Oh, I agree. Sometimes I follow discussions like that, too...
And I often learn something. I'm just saying that a lot of people don't take the time, just read the OP and that's it, especially if it's an extremely long thread...

5. Then you nominate those sorts of threads for the Greatest Page
For me, the main focus is always on the OP--that is really what determines if a post gets a nomination. There have been times when a subthread or just a comment was far more interesting than the OP--when that happens, I suggest the poster start his or her own thread. That way it can be nominated.

6. I recommend only threads I think others should read.
That often does not include threads with inane babbling in run-on sub threads which usually demonstrate nothing but the obstinacy of the participants.
