Pastor, parishioner cited for shooting arrow in church

By Eric Litke • Gannett Wisconsin Media • March 20, 2009

SHEBOYGAN FALLS -- A Sheboygan Falls pastor and parishioner were issued municipal citations on Thursday for firing an arrow during Sunday's service.

About 120 people were attending the evening service at Pentecostals of Sheboygan County, 621 Broadway, when the Rev. John Putnam had Jason Wilke, 26, draw and fire a steel-tipped practice arrow across the front of the church.

Putnam called it a "teaching tool."

Police call it illegal.

Wilke, of Sheboygan Falls, was cited for using a missile indoors, and Putnam was cited for aiding and abetting that ordinance violation. Both will be fined $109.

The Pastor is back in the news again today:

Pastor charged with carrying concealed gun

Associated Press
8:26 AM CDT, April 23, 2009

SHEBOYGAN FALLS, Wis. - The Sheboygan Falls pastor recently cited for a bow and arrow demonstration in church, is now charged with carrying a concealed weapon into a police station.

A criminal complaint says the Rev. John Putnam came to the Sheboygan Falls Police Department Feb. 28 to answer questions about a suicidal parishioner that police had contact with earlier in the day. An officer says Putnam was wearing body armor and a police-style jacket and had a handgun concealed in the jacket.

1. Man, those Wisconsin congregations must be a tough crowd if the pastors are packing heat.
This takes "Praise the Lord and Pass The Ammunition"

to a WHOLE NEW LEVEL.

3. Hmmmm .............
This guy likes props and outfits. Helmets and body armor and bows and arrows and guns and he is a "former" pastor of a church but is now the leader of a strange-sounding group of Pentacostals?

Yep.

We've got a live one.....................
