Entire Fort Worth ISD (80,000 students) has closed due to swine flu.
Several local schools -- including the entire Fort Worth Independent School District -- have closed in a precautionary effort against swine flu.

The Fort Worth ISD is closing all of its campuses beginning Thursday until May 11.

Three of the state's 16 confirmed cases are in Dallas County. The director of Dallas County's health department said Wednesday that swine flu precautions are "not overkill."

1. Kinda damned if you do, damned if you don't
isn't it?

I wouldn't want to have to make the decision, that's for sure.

2. personally I think it's overkill
I work as an out patient nurse and we have taken precautions but our surgery schedule has not moved.

One AISD school has closed, but the district remains open. In Austin we are way closer to the "action" so to speak.

I believe this has become a panic situation.

3. You guys don't have any confirmed cases, though, right?
We have several confirmed cases in North Texas.

This does seem kind of panic-y, though. Although I did not go over to my parent's house tonight because my boyfriend (who is a teacher) is running a fever and I didn't want to infect them if he has it, haha.

4. We do have a confirmed case
Only one.

I wonder what will happen to all of the parents that need to work.

This whole thing is just weird.
