Poll question: Do you think it would be prudent for the President to develop a shock collar for the Vice President?
Kind of like the collars that shock dogs when they bark to much (I think they are horrible and inhumane for use on dogs). However it might prove worthwhile in Bidens case. Don't freak out just a fun little poll, no offense meant, I'm sure Vice President Biden is a very bright man.

1. His outlandish remarks about the swine flu were kinda stupid
and also contributing to the Pres' gray hair.
But we all knew what we were getting with Joe. On balance, he is a plus.

That's what bugs me about signs like, "Danger: 10,000 volts". That tells me absolutely nothing about whether or not the line is actually dangerous to touch.

11. Citronella collars are designed for dogs who bark "too much".
FYI

Whenever the dog barks, a blast of citronella sprays into the dog's face. It's a classic stimulus-response gadget. Maybe it's not nice, but it's harmless and effective.

12. My 6 dogs are inside and usually only bark when they have something to bark about.
I would never consider putting any kind of bark deterrent collar on any of my dogs. They do make collars that shock dogs when they bark also, just so you know.

13. Shock collars sound worse, IMO.
I dog-sat a friend's mini-pin who tended to bark a lot. The little dog came with her citronella collar, and when she wore it, she barked only when she REALLY felt it was important to bark.

Mine are all big dogs they don't bark much anyway. The citronella doesn't sound mean or anything, just not something I would do.

The joke on wait, wait was that the White House was sending him to Costa Rica (i think) for the funeral of the PM, it was pointed out that the PM wasn't dead and the White House said he looked sick and they were sending Biden down there to wait it out. Like I said they had better writers than me. Maybe a little to provocative, my wife and I run a dog rescue so I'm used to dealing with dogs. Just another poor attempt at humor by me.

The early stage of senile dementia when the brain quits having the ability to filter your communication. You just say anything that comes to mind. When he starts to wander they should but a GPS collar on him so he doesn't get lost.

39. He was asked about his family flying to Mexico! He never once told anyone
to stay off of public transportation.

The airlines immediately had a fit because they knew what Biden said was true.
So the media and even some in the administration sided with the corporations.
Oh - I know - the airlines are suppose to have some filters now that make the air clean and fresh as air just washed by the rain - yeah, right. And that's why the CDC came out after Biden's remarks and said if you do fly that you should turn on that air thing above you and point it at your face....

53. Other than hurting the airlines, what is so bad about what
Biden said? Faced with what the WHO consideres the opening guns of a pan-demic what exactly is the problem with telling people not to hang out in constricted areas such as an airplane? What are the odds of NOT contracting this virus after a four hour flight?

The msm is so desperate for something to criticise that they make mountains out of molehills on a regular, predictable fashion.

Biden wasn't yelling "fire" in a crowded theater. He was saying something more like "you might want to stay out of there until you find out what that smoke is all about."

Why jump on the bandwagon of beating up Biden?

61. Obama Sends Biden on 'Special Mission' to Antarctica...
From a few months ago...

Obama Sends Biden on 'Special Mission' to Antarctica

Andy Borowitz

In the first major initiative of his presidency, President Barack Obama today dispatched Vice President Joe Biden on what he called "an important and special mission" to Antarctica.

The news of Mr. Biden's unexpected trip appeared to take the Vice President by surprise, as he was in the middle of making a joke about Chief Justice John Roberts to members of the press corps when the president interrupted him with the news.

"Here's how John Roberts sings the National Anthem," Mr. Biden was saying. "'Oh see can you say...'"

Mr. Obama, yanking away Mr. Biden's microphone, then informed him of the extraordinary journey to the South Pole he was about to undertake.

The president was vague about what the mission to Antarctica would entail, but he did indicate that it could take "up to four years."

While some witnesses to the scene said that Mr. Biden seemed surprised by the news, his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, offered another version of events during an appearance later in the day on "Oprah."

"Joe was given a choice of places to go and he picked Antarctica," she said. "President Obama said he could also go to the moon or Mars."

Dr. Biden's remarks were cut short when President Obama appeared on the set and unplugged her microphone.

Other than the Biden news, Mr. Obama's day went as planned, meeting with senior staff, drawing up a budget, and being sworn in as President for the third time.

Edited on Sun May-03-09 03:01 PM by ThomWV
A little bit of heartfelt honesty isn't such a bad thing every now and then particularly in a world full of scripted statements and I for one think that Biden is one of the most sensible men ever to hold political office. As far as I'm concerned he can say anything he dam well pleases and that part of the press that finds his comments somehow offensive can go fuck themselves if they want too - that wouldn't bother me a bit either.

Many here called the MSM fear mongers until Biden made his comment then Joe is just telling the truth. I honestly don't think it matters either way. People who need to fly are still going to. I just heard a joke on Wait Wait and wanted to make a little joke here on DU, I'm not seriously advocating putting a shock collar on Joe.
