15. I think that Malibu like Sedan is OK.....
The Sky is made for midgets. 6 feet tall can't fit in it. Love the look, though.

And, I drive a car because I need transportation and want excellent gas mileage, which is why I drive what I do.

7. he's hardcore but
will be interesting if he does.

On a side note I did some (through my company)remodeling work at Roush's shop in Livonia many years ago...When I was in the shop I asked about an engine they had on a crate and a guy just nonchalant says it's an 1100 horse 440 and asked if I had a mopar it would fit in because it had been sitting there for years and they wanted to get rid of it.

9. Roger Penske
My impression is that what ever Roger sets his mind to do, he does with competence, drive and an unyielding commitment to success.

I think Roger has the stuff to pull this off and I say bravo!

Can anybody here list Roger's failures in the last thirty years? I sure can't. He seems to have a bonifide Midas Touch.

13. Didn't he and Mark Donohue do a little F-1? Otherwise....
Everything he's done has succeeded, I think. Even Smart-Car is his.

18. Yes. Donohue died driving a Penske F1 car in 1975.

In 1976, Penske would win their one and only F1 race, at the same circuit Mark had died the previous year. The driver is Irishman John Watson.

23. Thanks. I wasn't sure Donahue was driving a Penske in his ill fated F-1...
but I see the American flag on both those cars so it must have been.

I was at The Daytona 24 in about '71 or so and among the drivers I saw there were Donahue, Rodriguez, Swede Savage, Ronnie Petersen.... all dead within just a few years. F-1 & Indy were blood sports back then.

19. Penske and Mark Donahue
Edited on Tue May-05-09 02:48 PM by 90-percent
Their racing successes together were significant. I think Mark was a degreed engineer.

Maybe not F1, but I think they did Indy Car and the old Trans Am series together? The Penske Camaro's with Donahue driving were killer! (EDIT: Thanks for the concise info, Mr. Bag! I DID NOT KNOW they went F1!)

I think Donahue died in Indy car testing or qualifying? Don't know details, but I think it was mid 70's.

I bought a Saturn in 1993. cute purple car. the auto trans would occasionally freewheel, then catch. they could not fix it and the prob was very intermittent. I drove the car into a sign and was very pleasantly surprised by the crash parts all being REASONABLY PRICED! I think the top front fender was $27 or something?

I fixed the car and my wife totaled it a few weeks later. I really bought in to the Saturn philosophy when they started it. Now I forget almost entirely what they were so famous for at their beginning?

THANK GOD FOR AIRBAGS! Saved her life!

10. Most industry analysts have stated that Saturn
never made a profit. GM has never denied that, and they wouldn't admit it unless they were absolutely forced to do so.
Honda and Toyota are considered vastly superior to Saturn's by most buyers, owners, and auto mechanics.

11. If a new owner with a love of automobiles, and a good idea about what
makes a good car takes over, maybe Saturn will survive.

20. I'm assuming they all be made in The USA.....
so I'd love to have an American marque with well made cars. My last 4 cars have been Fords and they're extremely good cars. I spend nothing on repairs....

But I'd love another American car line that put out nice reliable cars. Maybe we could export them, too.
