I need information on a GOP talking point on the financial crisis.
The GOPers I've seen posting in discussion boards have kept saying that their party had a "solution" to the financial crisis in 2006 that Barney Frank blocked, and this "block" in their view supposedly means that the crisis is all OUR fault.

What the hell are these idiots talking about?

4. Thank you for the link
I need to send it to a former co-worker that I met who sent me a bunch of links trashing Barney Frank, even though I told him that he could not have done anything while in the minority, and by the time we took control over Congress, there was not much we could have done then, either.

5. Just ask them the following questions
1. Is Franks a Democrat or Republican?
2. When did the Democrats win control of Congress?
Won in November of 2006.
3. When did that session of Congress begin?
2007

Also, the support I have seen is from a speech in 2004.

6. I'd ask them to elaborate on their supposed solution
that will probably end the conversation.

7. In addition to the fact that Republicans controlled Congress in 2006...

... their "solution" was to privatize Freddie and Fannie Mac. Given that what Freddie & Fannie did wrong was fail to regulate the private banks enough, their solution was to have F&F do more of what they were already doing wrong.
