1. That game came out before the election. I played a demo of it last summer.

15. She should have because it has nothing to do with Obama

Not only did it come out before the election, but the game has nothing to do with any president or candidate.

29. Yes, there's no way anyone could possibly
learn anything about this game before they posted about it.

4. Oh For Fucks Sake
First, Playstation didn't develop the game, Gamecock did.

Second, it was released in June of 2008, long before Obama won the election.

since he was known as "the smirking chimp".

16. Maybe. I don't think it's a slam against anyone
I think it's a kids game for the Playstation three with little thought put into the title beyond the fact that the main character is a chimp.

Not to mention Sony's lame Home.

I should know, I own one.

I rarely use it for gaming.

23. Heavenly Sword was interesting

For about the first 15 minutes. Then it got boring and repetitive.

And don't get me started on Resistance and Killzone 2.

Mine is just a movie player as well.

First that should be "FU - Gamecock"
Or WideLoad - those are the companies programming/distributing.

Secondly even a budget game takes longer than half a year - possibly longer nowadays - to create. That means when they started not only were they not sure who was running yet, but the only president that could be called a "Chimp" would be the one we've all called Chimpy Magoo (or other variations) for years: George W. Bush.

So... not to rain on your hate parade but unless Wideload/Gamecock comes out and says this is a parody of the current US president... donna worry.

Plus, what, this is like a $15 budget title on a system no one really cares about. Meh?

and immediately jumped to the not-unreasonable conclusion it was about Obama.

21. I doubt it's intended to reference Obama.
Edited on Wed May-06-09 11:13 AM by Occam Bandage
It's a party game about a bunch of animals (a hippo, an octopus, a chimpanzee, an armadillo, and a jellyfish) running for President of the Animals, monkeys are pretty common as a source of animal humor, and the game came out in mid-2008, meaning it was most likely in development before the Iowa caucuses.

I guess it's possible the entire thing was designed as an anti-Obama slur, but I kinda doubt it.

34. Umm, this game came out before the election.
I know the guys who worked on it. Wideload Studios comprises about 14 people in downtown Chicago, FWIW. It's a party-style game a la Mario Party about a bunch of animals running for president.

BTW, remember when Bush was the Chimp? If anything, it was a reference to that. I'd have to ask them if it's a Bush reference, but I think it may be. But it is not in any way a slap at Obama, so please don't start this stuff.
