Troopers: 7-year-old was mom's designated driver
Edited on Thu May-14-09 09:48 PM by RamboLiberal
A Fairbanks woman is accused of letting her 7-year-old son be her designated driver.

Karen K. Koch is charged with reckless endangerment and permitting an unauthorized person to drive.

Troopers say they received a call Monday night from a neighbor who saw a young boy driving a car with a passed out passenger.

Troopers say they traced the plates to Koch's home, arriving as the boy was getting out of the driver's seat.

Troopers say the 37-year-old woman woke up a few minutes later, and said she let her son drive from a nearby stop sign. According to a criminal complaint, she told troopers that she didn't see what the problem was.

Any idiot can get pregnant and have a kid, but perfectly responsible gay people can't adopt kids in a lot of places.

How can a 7-year-old even drive a car?

2. I'm impressed with the kid's driving.
Not so much with the mother.

5. Three previous DUIs. She was saving money in the long run.
A fourth might have cost quite a bundle, these infractions won't cost as much.

"Troopers say Koch has three previous drunken driving convictions and failed a sobriety test that night. She was released from jail after posting $250 bail."

6. My dad did that to me a few times
when he was nursing a beer in a big paper cup. He'd stick my hand on the wheel and say "steer!" I figured out where the road was by the break in the trees overhead because I couldn't see over the dashboard of a 50s car.

In his defense, it was way out in the country and nobody else was on the road and I'm sure if I'd headed for a large stationary object he'd have lost the beer and grabbed the wheel.

It's just not all that unusual, I think.

Around here it was an old geezer with an ignition interlock. He took his five year old grandson with him to the bar so the kid could blow into the interlock on the way out.

The cops knew him well, though, and popped him for about twenty charges. He's still in the can.
