I've lived in Maryland the last 30+ years, and before that in Tennessee and North Carolina, among other places.

Let's look at Maryland. The Dems more often than not own all three branches of government. The repubs, except for some anomalous governors, are pretty much irrelevant.

Which leads to lots of political intramural infighting. You have one faction of Dems who are left wing lefties. You have another faction who are to the right of many repubicans. And you have a group of "unaligned" Dems who move from side to side, depending on the issue or how the wind is blowing. For me, being pissed off at, and at war with, Democrats is nothing unusual.

I've seen the same phenomenon in largely repubican states, too.

What we are seeing in today's Democratic party in DC is nothing unusual, really.

And I still have no use for repubicans.
