Bush/Cheney approved torture, but what about Iraq?
Edited on Sun May-17-09 06:11 PM by ProSense
They tortured to justify the Iraq war so doesn't that automatically prove that they had no evidence of a link between Saddam and al Qaeda? Also, doesn't this suggest that they were trying to find a reason other than WMD, a claim supported by evidence they manufactured, to justify the illegal invasion?

How many soldiers and Iraqis died as a result of Bush/Cheney's actions?

War crimes.

On edit: One of the excuses being offered up is the notion that Bush officials acted in good faith and it would be wrong to prosecute a previous administration based on legal interpretations and policy differences.

Of course, that is hogwash. Add Iraq to the mix, and it shows the Bush administration's blatantly calculated attempts to cover its illegal tracks.

1. No matter how it's spun, torture is ILLEGAL.

2. True, but
these lame excuses are still being advanced. The series of calculated actions by the Bush administration need to be emphasized to show the extent to which they went to break the law.

3. Bush lied us into an illegal invasion of an innocent country.
Resulting in many deaths, and the destruction of a country.
And did harm to the US as well....

Some might think this is a crime.
A high crime.

4. I think you make a good point.
They invaded Iraq under false pretenses and were looking for someone to justify their illegal invasion.

5. Yes, thanks.
The fact that they were still looking is proof that they wanted cover for their bogus WMD claim. They most likely were operating under the assumption that a link between Saddam and al Qaeda could easily be used by the complicit media to obscure the reality that they manipulated the WMD evidence.
