The Republicans never learn, continue to go on the Daily Show
Yes, Jon Stewart is a horrible interviewer. Like Chris Matthews, he asks a question and immediately offers his own reply, or is attempting to clarify what he means and with usually only five minutes - today he alloted more to Newt - the interview is over before the hapless guest has a chance to say what he wants to say.

This is how Stewart interacts with his guests, unless he feels charitable and let the guest speaks.

So why, then, do they clamor to appear on his show?

I don't think that we should listen to Newt or to the Limp to decide who our leaders should be. If Pelosi will decide to step down, it should be her, and the Democrats' decision, not because the bullying by the Republicans.

Yet, Gingrich did make one comment that appears to make sense - and I hope other DUers can poke holes. He said: how can CIA operative should expect to brief the speaker if she claims that they misled her?

1. They can record their briefings. That would work.

2. Gingrich is full of shit, and
his knowledge of recent American history is shameful.

No less a Conservative personage than Barry Goldwater took to the floor of the Senate and began reading into the Congressional Record a "classified" CIA report, when he found out - yes, this is a real shocker - that the CIA had lied - LIED - to him and to other Senators and Congressmen about the mining of the harbors in Nicaragua.

He was stopped, the portions he'd read were expunged from the Record, and Reagan apparently offered Goldwater much to appease his anger.

This took place in 1984, not that long ago, while Newt was a Congressman.

So, the idea of the CIA lying and these assholes feigning shock is beyond laughable.........................

3. CIA
If you want a real eye opener, look up the Virgin Fug's CIA Man. It was done in the mid sixties and is still appropriate.

7. Well, dear, they can start with accurate record keeping, that's how.
We have the means to record and seal every damn word that passes between anyone, so why is there no record that can be turned to for honest corroboration in an instance such as this? Because the LIARS didn't want one. The CIA refuses to vouch for the record and people who DO keep minute and honest records, such as Graham, vouch for Pelosi's recollection.

So pardon me if I don't think much of Gingrich's "one comment that appears to make sense." Appearances can be deceiving.

9. Sadly, these days, such confidential recordings can be leaked, posted
on YouTube, etc.

This is not related to this topic, but in the past several years we have seen too many leaks from what the participants thought was a confidential meeting. And, yes, we sometimes gleed but still.

One case was a conference call and someone had a cell phone open to others who were not invited.

We even had that private fund raising event for Obama, where he talked about rural people clinging to their guns (don't remember the exact phrase) and even though I supported Hillary at the time, I cringed at the fact that someone would leak from a private meeting.

If I were present at a CIA briefing I would, first, demand that all cell phones be banned, even screen people walking through a detector, or something. And then have only one recording sealed in a secure place, and can be viewed only in the presence of representatives from all branches and parties that were present.

8. We pay the CIA to lie.
That's practically in their job description. They are very good at it. The problems come into it when on who's behalf they are lying get twisted.
