W.Va. one of three states without swine flu

West Virginia is one of only three states with no confirmed or probable cases of the swine flu, but state health officials say the threat is not yet over.

"There is going to definitely be cases in West Virginia," said Dr. Rahul Gupta, executive director of the Kanawha-Charleston Health Department. "It's not a matter of if, but when."


West Virginia's small population and lack of major national highways may have helped spare the Mountain State from the H1N1 virus, he said.


"We don't have that much travel through-routes or travel into routes from affected areas, so less people could be bringing in," Gupta said. More...
