Powell-Limbaugh feud grows - Limbaugh responds to Powell
Last time we checked in, Colin Powell had just responded to Rush Limbaugh's recent suggestion that Powell wasn't a real Republican, and should leave the GOP. Powell said the following last night:
"Rush Limbaugh says, 'Get out of the Republican Party.' Dick Cheney says, 'He's already out.' I may be out of their version of the Republican Party, but there's another version of the Republican Party waiting to emerge once again," Powell told the crowd.

Limbaugh just responded:
And now there's an agenda -- an emerging agenda -- that he's waiting for for the Republican Party? The only thing emerging here is Colin Powell's ego. Colin Powell represents the stale, the old, the worn-out GOP that never won anything. The party of Gerald Ford, Nelson Rockefeller, Bill Scranton, Arnold Schwarzenegger and those types of people. Has anybody heard Colin Powell say a single word against Obama's radicalism -- or Pelosi or Reid, for that matter? Maybe he has but his fawning media sure hasn't reported if he has said it.

Note: Halperin gives no source, or date, for his "quote" of Limbaugh. In view of the fact that Halperin has sent out fake stories in the past, during his time at ABC, in order to be "funny," we should take this Limbaugh quote with a grain of salt until Halperin deigns to source his post like all good journalists should.

2. "The old, the worn-out GOP that never won anything. The party of ... Arnold Schwarzenegger..."
Is he referring to the Arnold Schwarzenegger who is the current sitting Governor of California? That Arnold Schwarzenegger?

I guess he's confident that Arnold won't win next time, is that it?

14. He could run as Senator or Congressman though.
I doubt he would, I think he has had just about his fill of Politics and time to get back to the movies.

15. Gray Davis has a better chance at winning statewide office at this point.
Californians are facing some of the highest unemployment, foreclosure rates and budget deficits in the country.

He COULD run for the Senate. He would NEVER win, not at this point.

As far as a congressional run -- he'd have to primary Waxman -- don't think so!!

4. Who cares, they're both paid to lie for BushCo.
Although I suppose some people might believe that Powell is a kinder, gentler and smarter liar than the pigboy.

11. I guess Rush does not remember Eisenhower, a moderate Republican.
IMHO Powell and Eisenhower came out of the same mold. They are actual fiscal conservative Republicans.

13. Rush has a typical repubs concept of what is winning and losing
getting elected apparently isn't winning. getting defeated is. How else to explain his references to:

William Scranton: elected to one term in the House and one term as Governorn of PA; never defeated in a popular election (he did fail in a late attempt to wrest the repub presidential nomination from goldwater in 1964. Of course, goldwater, who got his ass kicked in the general election, is a "winner" in rush's estimation).

Nelson Rockefeller: Four terms as governor of NY; never defeated in a popular election (he also failed to get the repub presidential nomination, losing to such "winners" as Nixon and Goldwater).

Gerald Ford: undefeated in a more than a dozen races for Congress; nearly came back to win the presidency in 1976 despite the fact that in a sane world, no repub, let alone one who had pardoned nixon, should've had a chance. Oh yeah, he got the nomination by winning (or is that losing) over Ronald Reagan.

Arnold: two tries and two wins (losses?) for governor of the largest state in the US -- a state that has gone Democratic by a margin of at least 10 percentage points in every presidential election for the past 20 years.
