1. Of course they are...
I'm sure any of them would be happy to work 20 hour days in sweatshop conditions for a couple pennies a day, which is where they'd be if not for Unions.

2. Someone alluded to that in one of the forum's responses.
I won't deny there are some legitimate union problems, but as another said -- management also signs what the union proposes and, more to the point, management tells the workers what to do, what to buy, et cetera. Leadership = top down. Not bottom up. Ironic as our system of capital works from the bottom up.

3. I think it's fair to say that in some cases
the welfare of the union itself has become more important than the ultimate welfare of the members, and that's a shame. It's one of their weaknesses as a democratizing agency in the private sector.

4. Yah, I know, abolish the minimum wage and OSHA.....
and there will be plenty of $2-an-hour jobs here where you might get your arm or leg cut off with no recourse. Screw those coprophags.

7. A lot of them really believe they'd be better off with no government or unions.
They're addled with false consciousness and live in a fantasy world where they're cartoon heroes of the already cartoonish Ayn Rand. A lot of them don't have a pot to piss in now, but if their dreams came true, that'd really be the end of them.

6. They never seem to notice that nobody risks their life to cross the border
into Mexico in search of a better living standard for their family...or into India, either....

My sister in law, the one who loves Newt G., used to regularly fly to India to set up offices for US corporations. Any of those jobs could have stayed here if we wanted to work for $40 a week.

Freepers, you couldn't afford to drive them big ol' pickups on that kind of money.

8. you mean like all those unionized computer professionals?
The irony is amazing here.

You have a workforce that is vigorously anti-union, individualistic, ambitious, highly motivated and self educated, and you outsource them.
