The thought just hit me. Don't know why it didn't hit sooner. What a nightmare thought, our people detained in Iran and Bush/Cheney in charge.

1. What would they have done?
They would have just whined, bitched, and moaned the entire time.

3. No, they (* and Darth Cheney) would have started a war against Iran.

12. Our powerful and capable Air Force and Navy
Several hundred Tomahawks can be in the air in minutes from Navy cruisers and destroyers, and F-16s, F-18s, and F-15E loaded with JDAMs, bumker-busters, and Mavericks can be airborne in a few hours.

13. With the Fundies that dominate too much of the Air Force brass.
You can start one hell of a war from 40,000 feet, especially when you don't deal with reality nor give a rat's ass about people on the ground (theirs OR ours).

4. I think they (bushies*) would have gotten them killed...
--if they had to do so themselves, just to "prove a point." Yes, I really DO believe this.

14. My thought, too. Bush, Cheney, Inc. would have martyred them
They would have martyred them in the name of the Bush-Cheney religion of war and profit. While never putting themselves at risk, Bush-Cheney have always been quite comfortable with having others die to satisfy their own desires. From Vietnam to Iraq, these guys have cemented their place among the most despicable cowards in human history. Never any risk to themselves!

17. And then ol' Chimpy would have "honored their brave sacrifice".
By killing tens of thousands in their names.

6. They would have started the threats from day one
Edited on Wed Apr-04-07 11:33 AM by Godlesscommieprevert
We'd probably be flying sorties over their air space just to try and get them to fire at us. :(
They'd push and push until at last they got the war they're longing for.

Edited on Wed Apr-04-07 11:54 AM by Sequoia
Arrrgh....foiled again. Those sissy Brits, always backing down and brokering deals. Why, if it'd been our guys we'd a stormed in there like a SWAT team by cracky. :sarcasm:

2. the bombs would have been dropping by Good Friday, for sure
bush/cheney are obviously not interested in diplomacy and just itching for a drag-out with Iran -- cos, of course, their asses aren't anywhere near the line of fire.

21. Or a mysterious 'jamming' effects lets a troop of soldiers...
accidently cross over the Iran-Iraq border because the GPS units are inaccurate...

Like I said, the little LED lights up

8. What this means is...
the stories we've been hearing about British, and presumably U.S., troops committing incursions into Iranian territory are true. So it's probably only a matter of time before U.S. troops are captured.

9. I agree
We are lucky it wasn't 15 of our own. Now, thankfully, even if some of ours end up in Irans hands we, likely have to deal because of what just happened. Thank you Iran. More diplomacy.

10. I've been thinking that ever since the Brits were first captured.
In fact, I figured Shrub would use the excuse "We HAVE to help our closest ally!" as a reason to bomb Iran. I have to guess Tony Blair put the breaks on that right away!

11. Just as in the US spy plane in China incident..
.. BushCrimeInc would make a large cash settlement for their return. The willing US media would have helped in burying the story.

16. I was concerned that Bush/Cheney
would somehow "piggy-back" the USA onto the British captive crisis and use it as an excuse to bomb the shit out of Iran.

19. I doubt that was an accident
The Iranians were sending a message. But they knew better than to do it with Americans.
