Could the super-racists' actions convince average racists to reassess their racism?
Edited on Thu Jun-11-09 01:17 AM by tridim
Just searching for a silver lining in these scary times.

It seems like a perfect time for run-of-the-mill covert racists to come to their senses and finally join the HUMAN race.

1. No.
Racists become racists because of perception of superiority or injustice. Even if someone is killed, the racist's perception will not change, because they will still see themselves to be superior or a victim of injustice.

The vast majority of racists don't have the guts to try anything that will get them into trouble. It's the truly unhinged ones that will.

"average racists" are probably all around us and if they see how insane Von Brunne looks in this perspective, they might stray away from surrounding themselves with these fools. who would associate themselves with this lunatic

3. Don't think so
Racists are people who need to look down on someone else so they can boost their own self-esteem. When one group becomes more socially equal (Irish immigrants of the last century come to mind), people like this just focus on a different group to sneer at.

4. These things tend to polarize opinions.
It will either drive many away, or attract many.

I fear the latter will take place. Especially considering most racists, however mild, are dumbasses.

5. I would say it depends on how they see the shooters treated and ...
... how much exposure the person gets to the world outside their sphere of hateful influence.

6. doubtful ... they will see any action as an "over-reaction" to
"a handful of mentally ill people who obviously went too far" ...
