Tonight's Bill Maher Show was on of his best in a long time.

The guests were coherent and could speak intelligently...except for the Valley-Girl moments of Meghan McCain. She was pretty clear and open most of the time.
Bill Maher had a wonderful little piece at the end about who the Democratic Party represents these days...and how there should be a REAL Progressive Party that unabashedly supports all those things that most of us here at DU support.

4. It was an excellent show although the bar has been set pretty low recently

Last week that douchebag PJ O"Rourke turned the whole thing into a boring joke fest about getting laid and smoking dope. And Maher allowed him to get away with it.

The week before that Bolton guy was on and simply took over the entire show with the usual Rove tactics of interrupting, talking over other guests, raising his voice when he wanted to shut someone up, and Bill didn't say shit.

So the standards have been lowered way down. But tonight's show was a 100% improvement. McCain is pretty much a clueless twit but she at least has enough common courtesy to let others finish their sentences before butting in.

6. Bill made some good points

but he fell short on one of the culprits, the media. Conservatives still out number Liberals on cable and the Sunday shows allowing them to frame the debate. Even on the supposed liberal network, MSNBC, their anchors adopt GOP talking points and let's not even talk about the 'Fox & Friends'-lite morning show.
Bill complains that real liberals are not featured as much but how often does he feature real liberals? Instead he regularly gives a platform to people like P.J. O'Rourke and Frank Lutz.

7. Glad to hear it -

I'm no fan of Maher's, but when he gets it right, he gets it right. The shows I've seen recently have been awful, but I think a lot of it has to do with having the right guests AND NOT LETTING THE TOKEN RIGHTWINGNUT TAKE IT OVER.

I'm glad he nailed it tonight.....................
