Giuliani: Democrats cheat as often as Republicans
Giuliani: Democrats cheat as often as Republicans

http://rawstory.com/08/news/2009/06/24/giuliani-democrats-cheat-as-often-as-republicans/

Former New York mayor and presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani offered a roundabout defense of disgraced Republican South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford — and Republicans as a whole — on Fox News Wednesday.

“This has happened just as often in the Democratic Party,” Giuliani told Fox’s Neil Cavuto. “These problems of romance, sexuality, et cetera, are not confined to Republicans or Democrats or independents.”

Giuliani is no stranger to these matters. His political life suffered some severe blows over the years due to marital infidelity. His messy divorce and subsequent remarriage were dragged into the spotlight during the 2008 presidential campaign, when questions arose over why New York City had picked up the tab for his security detail while he was involved in an affair with his current wife, Judith Nathan.

On Fox News Wednesday, Giuliani offered compassion to Gov. Sanford, who earlier in the day admitted to an extra-marital affair with an Argentinian woman.

7. Au contraire, Giu911liani
Democrats may cheat, but they don't position themselves as the "family friendly", "moral" party.

They also don't seem to get caught with their pants down as much as the GOP does.

LMAO.

9. here's the problem rudy... do you mind if i call you rudy....?
see, the democrats don't go around preaching family values and trying to tell people what marriage is supposed to be and who should be married. democrats don't go around claiming to be these great purveyors of moral values. there is the difference. they aren't the ones going around trying to claim that the gays are destroying the sanctity of marriage. while they are schtooping their secretary. they don't go claiming to be holier than thou telling everyone else what marriage is and should be and who should and shouldn't be married while they are cheating on their spouse... or married three times. so fu rudy. go f yourself.

10. The big difference, of course,
is that Democrats are far less likely than Republicans to have bloviated piously and at great length about The Sanctity of Marriage (between a man and a woman, of course) before being discovered with their zippers down.

Without telling other responsible parties (like, say Lieutenant Gov's) where they've gone? This seems bigger than lying about sex, even under oath. Jeeze.

21. ORLY?
OK, there was Clinton and Elliot Spitzer and John Edwards. Even apart from the industrial-strength hypocrisy, the Democrats don't seem to have as many -- shall we say -- exotic escapades as Republicans. I don't remember hearing about any Democrats getting arrested for solicitation in airport mens' rooms, or cavorting in diapers with hookers, or sending lurid e-mails to underage House pages, or suddenly jetting off to Argentina to do the horizontal tango with a mistress.

Sure, Democrats cat around, too. But they usually aren't as weird and icky about it.

35. Even assuming that was true, as least we're not hypocrites about it.
I don't see Democrats constantly howling about homosexuality, then getting caught hitting on other men tapping feet in airport bathroom stalls.

I don't see Democrats demanding abstinence-only sex education for kids, then having their own kids becoming teen mothers.

You get the general idea...

Why would he even open his pie-hole about a subject which he is so intimately acquainted, i.e. marital infidelity?

Does he go by the credo "even bad publicity is still publicity"?

Rudy must either be entirely tone-deaf, or completely lacking in the irony department.

You can't say you're morally superior, then say "the other guys do it, too!" when you get caught doing something immoral. You either have a higher standard or you do not. And judging by the speed at which the Republicans began circling the wagons to *praise* Sanford for his actions, I'd say it's very clear that they do not.

Shove your family values, Rudy, YOU of all people.
