Lawyer: Jackson's Doctor Had Difficulty Summoning Help (didn't know the address to tell 911)
Ok...so WHO the hell was doing CPR as he ran around the mansion looking for someone who KNEW the address???

http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/MichaelJackson/story?id=7954316&page=1

As scrutiny of the doctor who was with Michael Jackson when the pop star was stricken grows, a lawyer for Dr. Conrad Murray told ABC's "Good Morning America" that it took Murray a while to find anyone in Jackson's rented mansion to help him call 911 after he failed to revive the superstar.

"We can't tell you exactly when 911 was called," attorney Edward Chernoff told "Good Morning America" today.

Chernoff said that once Murray realized that CPR was not bringing Jackson back, Murray, he said, tried to dial 911 on his cell phone but did not have the exact address of Jackson's home. And with none of the phones in the home working "for privacy reasons," Murray ran around the house till he found Jackson's chef, who alerted security.

It was the security person, Chernoff said, who eventually dialed 911. CPR, he said, was done for 25 to 30 minutes before emergency officials arrived.

2. Don't most modern cell phones let 911 services triangulate their position?
Especially if it's a fancy iPhone or Blackberry it likely had GPS capability anyway but I thought most cellphones now had some capability of giving location details to 911 services.

saying I didn't call 911 because I don't know the address is pretty weak.

15. not GPS, but E911 is on most cell phone services
and it enables 911 operations to trace a phones location.

Thats what I meant and what I think the poster I replied to was talking about.

21. That says absolutely nothing about the accuracy of the methods used..
I have a GPS unit that gives me the probable error, usually about 25 feet.

If the methods used in the E911 were only 10% as accurate I'd be surprised, they are probably only good to several hundred feet, depending on location.

I'll point out that I've actually used radio location (Omnirange) before so I do know a bit about this sort of thing.

22. agreed, but I believe this started as a discussion about whether just calling 911
on his cell phone would have been enough for dispatchers to send emergency personnel to MJ's house. I think you'd agree that it would have. The doctor didn't need the exact address and zip code to call 911.

and someone (staff, nanny, ANYONE but the doc who should be the patient) will be in the MIDDLE of the street waving the ambulance down since we don't know the numerical address".

18. Yep, the doctor had been there before~right?
How did he get out of Med School if he can't remember minor details like the name of the street, color of house, brick, stucco?

We are not talking about homes on an Army base, these homes don't all look alike!

Hello! a 4th grader could have made the call!

4th grader to 911: Home of MICHAEL JACKSON, the Entertainer, 200 block of Jingle Bell Lane -- East side of street. Big grey mansion with black iron gates.

19. I'm pretty bad with addresses
I can't tell you the addresses of friends I visit regularly. I can give directions on how to get there ("Turn off X Avenue onto Y Street, go 2 blocks past the 2nd stop sign and it's the blue house on the left") but if I had to give an address in an emergency I'd be lost.

The poster who suggested having someone go outside to wave down the ambulance had a good idea.

Edited on Mon Jun-29-09 07:58 PM by rocktivity
I'm sure there's a record of when the 911 call came in. Dr. Murray lived there for at least two weeks but didn't know the address? And one was allowed to call out of the house? How long had it been rented?

10. The doctor's story is pretty fishy looking, considering he was doing CPR on Michael Fucking Jackson,
and then seems like he beat feet either when or even before EMS showed up.

His car was impounded, presumably to see if he had a bunch of opiates in there to shoot up MJ with.

12. They just showed video of bags being taken out of MJ's house
Edited on Mon Jun-29-09 08:04 PM by rainbow4321
saying they were filled with drugs prescribed by different docs (gee, no kidding).
I noticed one LAPD official had at least one bag with a sharps container...for non-medical people, it's those hard, red, puncture proof containers that you put needles in after they are used.

I imagine THOSE syringes are going to be tested for what was in them and possibly fingerprints. Doc better hope his aren't on them if he is saying that he didn't give MJ any injections.

16. Tell Me About It
:eyes: Have people here EVER been in a medical emergency situation? People do NOT behave according to plan. Including doctors and other trained personnel who are in an environment different from the one they were trained to operate in.
