CEO SAVES BUSH FROM SELF-IMMOLATION
Plug it in, fire it up, Mr. President

The Detroit News

Credit Ford Motor Co. CEO Alan Mulally with saving the leader of the free world from self-immolation.

Mulally told journalists at the New York auto show that he intervened to prevent President Bush from plugging an electrical cord into the hydrogen tank of Ford's hydrogen-electric plug-in hybrid at the White House last week. Ford wanted to give the Commander-in-Chief an actual demonstration of the innovative vehicle, so the automaker arranged for an electrical outlet to be installed on the South Lawn and ran a charging cord to the hybrid. However, as Mulally followed Bush out to the car, he noticed someone had left the cord lying at the rear of the vehicle, near the fuel tank.

"I just thought, 'Oh my goodness!' So, I started walking faster, and the President walked faster and he got to the cord before I did. I violated all the protocols. I touched the President. I grabbed his arm and I moved him up to the front," Mulally said. "I wanted the president to make sure he plugged into the electricity, not into the hydrogen This is all off the record, right?"

11. I don't get it. How could an electrical cord get plugged into a H tank?
Edited on Sat Apr-07-07 03:49 PM by yellowcanine
Maybe Mulally is a bit technology challenged as well? That said, Bush is an idiot if he picked up a cord and was going to plug it in somewhere without knowing anything about the technology.

15. Maybe,
what he is saying is that he didn't want President Numb-nuts looking foolish by fumbling around the H tank with the electrical cord where it doesn't connect. Because, Ford couldn't advertise that even a "monkey" can operate their Hydrogen/Electric Hybrid with ease.

Is NOTHING sacred? Mulally should have walked over to a Secret Service Agent and explained the potential danger of the situation quietly, and then let the people who are trained for this type of job to move in. After all, bush IS the president, and shouldn't be touched by someone not authorized to do any touching.

27. This reminds me of the scene from Sliders when
they finally made it back home to the right time, but instead of going into the house to confirm it, Quinn relied on the old squeaky gate in the front of the house. He figured that if it still squeaked, then he was home, if not, there's no reason to go in. It didn't squeak, so they left.

But what they didn't know was that there was an antagonist of theirs who oiled the gate right before they arrived.

Okay, maybe it wasn't EXACTLY the same, but you're still left wondering, what if?

28. obviously someone was trying to kill the fuckhead
"he noticed someone had left the cord lying at the rear of the vehicle, near the fuel tank."

now...let's see...who was suppose to set up the cord and plug it in? maybe george should investigate this as throughly as he did with the plame leak and really get to the bottom of who wanted to put his life in jeopardy

and this business about the fuckhead walking faster and faster--a friend of mine did that one time when he was shit-face drunk--he finally fell down. maybe bush was having the same problem?

"crap," cheney sneered as he lurked on from the bushes, "i almost had it."
