On MTP this morning, one of the guests---possibly John McCain---said that, while health care reform was needed, the Democrats were going about it in a totally partisan way, insisting on "government run" health care and such. What we should be doing, he stated with much assurance, is "sitting down across the table" in a bipartisan commission to work out a solution that "everyone agrees on".
One thing that John Edwards was damn sure right about was that these people, the insurance companies and their dependents, are NEVER going to negotiate away their power over our lives. If we want it back, will most assuredly have to TAKE it.
I think it's time to "double down". We need to be sure our senators and congressmen and women know that none of this half-assed, watered-down "change in name only" is going to cut it come next election cycle. Public option or clean out your desk!
