"The more the GOP reaches out, the more our hand is slapped away" WAAAAH
"House GOP shut out despite promises" - WHAT promises? Does anybody remember our side making a big campaign promising to appease Republicans? Whiners, thy name is GOP. Never happy, always hopping mad about something, always wronged. Cry me a river. :nopity:

=====

WASHINGTON - It was 2004 and Democrats were into their 10th year as the minority party in the House when they proposed a bill of rights to ensure their participation in the democratic process.

The GOP ignored them.

Now Republicans, newly demoted to the minority, say they are the ones suffering abuse despite repeated Democratic promises that theirs would be a more open, democratic and inclusive rule.

"It seems," said Republican leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, "over the last three weeks that the more we reach out and offer our hand of bipartisanship, (the more) it is slapped away."

22. His point is the current GOP whines are pot calling kettle black, since the 2004 article
describes how the GOP ran the thing unilaterally and in secret when they had the majority.

Seemed straightforward enough to me.

30. OK then MM
I sincerely did not understand why he was pointing me to another thread in GD:P and just asked what the point was, to which he answered "you don't see the point?" No, I didn't, just dense I guess.

8. It MUST Suck
. . . to have had your hand on the best chance you have had in TWO HUNDRED YEARS to impose fascism on the most powerful country in the world -- and then to have Chimpie eff it up.

No wonder nobody on freerepublic writes about Chimpie anymore. He blew their big chance.

9. Just... I mean...
Freakin' unbelievable. Offering a "hand of bipartisanship" only matters when the person offering the hand has something to share. To paraphrase, they don't want a hand up, they want a hand out. "We know we lost the election and violated our oaths and the trust of all Americans and all that, but just let us have our way anyway, okay? I mean, we'd do it for you, if, you know, we had control again, and if you asked for something we didn't mind giving you. Like, if you wanted to screw America or something, the way we want to."

Their hands shouldn't be slapped, they should be shackled, placed on Bibles, sworn under oath, and questioned. The few who weren't sent to prison for treason or back home for incompetence after that might be worth compromising with, as long as it was on something we don't mind giving them.

Put your money where your mouth is, you poor misunderstood Publicans. Quit stalling that bill in the Senate, as a show of good faith.

14. remember how the Dems
always got beat over the head with the word "obstructionists"?
So far I haven't seen or heard very many Dems publically calling out the minority party on tv with being "obstructionists" to the minimum wage bill. I did hear Ted Kennedy ask the Senate what do Republicans have against working Americans.
I wouldn't surprise me that if nothing gets done, the minority party will be spinning it as "Dems can't get things done and broke their campaign promise".

Much better than "Republic" IMO.

Sounds very nasty and derogative.

We should start a trend.

20. Oh the poor GOP! How can we not be bi partisan, like they are!
How generous of them to offer to be bipartisan! How helpful of them to offer us things to just support without regard to life, suffering, or common sense! How nice of them to define bipartisanship by allowing them to control both parties!

Those poor guys are so oppressed. Oppressed!

24. Now that the Dems control the House, C-Span is Must-See-TV
"Members of the current minority sat here for two weeks grinding their teeth while they watched things come to the floor without having gone to committee, without prior debate and discussion," said the former chairman of the House Administration Committee, Rep. Vernon Ehlers (news, bio, voting record), R-Mich. "And this is the crowning insult."

"It is tough to be in the minority, isn't it? I feel your pain," Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., said with a smile to Republicans while pointing out that the late changes came as a request from Boehner, the House GOP leader.

Asked at a news conference about the napkin, Hoyer said, "It was on some piece of paper, the consistency of which I do not know."

 I actually watched this exchange on tee vee and it was hilarious. The Republics were really in a tizzy that day!

25. That dripping sound they hear is our collective heart bleeding for them
Bush -- DeLay -- Cheney -- and going back to Gingrich: their idea of bipartisanship has always reminded me of date rape. "Stop struggling and it won't hurt so much." p'tui

I think there's those that would like to give the Repubs the back of their hand, all right, but I don't see anything like the venom that the Repubs generated. Just maybe some justice, as in subpoenas, oversight, and investigations.

The Congressional Repubs are giving new meaning to the phrase "sore losers." They can't seem to give up the habit of the Big Lie oft-repeated.

Hekate
