Voters are unhappy: Will they remember?
July 20, 2009 at 12:48 pm by Rick Karlin
That’s the question being raised by today’s Siena Poll which finds that “More than three-quarters of New York voters say they are “angry” that the Senate wasted a month “accomplishing nothing,” and 62 percent said that most voters will remember the Senate fight on Election Day 2010.”

The Senate fracas, also appears to have helped Gov. Paterson’s ratings — just a bit — with his “favorables” going up from 31 to 36 percent from June to July and “unfavorable” rating creeping down from 57 to 56 percent — compared to 60 percent back in May.
------------......

“Although three Senators involved in the drama of the last month, remain unknown to most voters, a plurality have unfavorable views of Senators Malcolm Smith, Dean Skelos and John Sampson. However, most voters in the state have an opinion about Senator Pedro Espada – and by a better than four-to-one margin it’s an unfavorable opinion. Additionally, 21 percent of voters, a plurality, think Sen. Espada is most to blame for the Senate fight, followed by Senate Republicans (18 percent), Senate Democrats (15 percent) and Governor Paterson (12 percent),” Greenberg said.

They are counting on voters taking it out on the people who run this year and forgetting about it by next year.

3. it's sad to say, but they are right..... people won't remember. according to our local
news station, there is a 99% re-election rate in this state. they aren't worried. we need term limits!!! we need a lot of things. It pisses me off!!! if i didn't show up to work for a month, i wouldn't have a damned job!! there is something wrong with this picture if they can act like children and get nothing done and STILL not be worried about getting the boot at election time.

4. That's why they did it this year
They figure by next year, people will forget and their opponents won't have the money to remind them.
