The "brain tumor" lady from Canada is warning us all to not give up our rights..
BUT
Having the "right" to choose your doctor is meaningless if you have no money to pay for the care, or the insurance
Having the "right" to go to any hospital is meaningless, if you cannot get past the waiting room without a credit card or a wad of cash.
Having the right to call 911 and be responded to, is fine, but when the bills come in for thousands of dollars, and you have no money to pay the bills, that's another thing entirely.
We have the "right" to go broke, one way or the other. We can go broke trying to keep up with the ever-escalating cost of dodgy insurance, that may pay...or might not..when we need them the most, or we can "go commando" and hope we do not get sick until after we turn 65.
We have the "right" to pay on a house for 20 yrs or more, hoping to pay it off "someday", only to find out that it must be "traded" for health care during the "gap-years". What are the gap years? Those are the years from the time you get downsized/ laid-off/ early-retired/ aged-out/ etc. or from when the company you worked for went belly-up, until the time you reach 65.
So, the "rights" of the next generation, who hoped to inherit something (the right of inheritance), may be sorely surprised when they figure out that their parents/grandparents are turning over the fruits of their labor, not to them, but to the insurance companies and/or health care providers, in exchange for a few more years/months of time on the planet.
