SF Muni crash: Chronicle has the videos

We've got the first, exclusive look at the city's video tape from Saturday's big Muni Metro crash.

More than 40 people were injured when a Metro light rail train slammed into the rear of a second train parked at the West Portal Station. The driver of the train has said he blacked out before the crash. He had just switched from automatic mode to manual shortly before.

The video - shot from cameras mounted at the station platform - shows both the high-impact crash and the response afterward by paramedics and other emergency crews. It does not clearly show the driver.

1. It's amazing that public vehicles like this don't have sensors that can prevent this.
Probably would cost $2000 per vehicle, and the public's lives aren't worth that.
