STUPIDLY is a word! It's in the goshdarn dictionary.
People are acting stupidly about this. STUPIDLY is in the dictionary hence it is a real word and it's OK to use it. In fairness so is "decider" but I think that was made a word by executive order after Bush used it.

The RW media needs to give it a rest RE: stupider as it's a bonafide part of the English language.

ProperLY modified verbs, adjectives, and other adverbs are soreLY underutilized words.

People act stupidly all the time. Especially stupid cops.

3. I was stunned to see 2 claims that it wasn't - but as you say it is in the dictionary
It's not even an unusual word. It is the opposite of cleverly - which also is a word.
