Just give the names as they are and stop behaving like Michael Savage and Rush Limbaugh.

13. Freeper Jr.?
I guess you would be one of those with "don't play well with others" on the report card. Tweety has been around awhile however rat could probably mean just about anybody. As someone who doesn't watch a lot of daytime TV I've never seen Ratigan, perhaps I should stay home on weekdays more.

5. Dylan Ratigan on MSNBC? He's pretty good to watch on any
day. Today is a beauty, however.

12. if you are trying to dumb down the conversation do it on some other show...
That is not an exact quote, but it was something to that effect. I about fell off my chair laughing.

Typical straw-man bullshit arguments from the GOP operative, and it was the usual Ratigan behavior. Don't get me wrong--I agree with Ratigan on this (and several other subjects) but he really IS just obnoxious as hell to his guests sometimes.

17. Well, if he pisses YOU off--how do you think that the GOP folks who sent that operative are feeling?
Edited on Fri Aug-07-09 10:04 AM by davsand
Not only did Ratigan make him look like a tool, but he also cut the legs out from under the entire GOP spin machine by making the discussion about free market competition.

I've not seen that bill Ratigan was waving around, but it is a brilliant bit of work if it actually does bring the discussion around to forcing insurance companies to compete for business. Imagine-if you can--one bill forcing the GOP and the Blue Dog stooges to not only admit they are whores for the insurance industry, AND it cuts the legs out from under the "scared grannies" they have put out front who don't want "gubment" messing in their Medicare program.

:puke:

19. Wyden Bennett is bunk
SoCalDem Donating Member (1000+ posts) Wed Aug-05-09 08:05 AM
Original message

The Wyden/Bennett option is not being explained properly
He's (Wyden) been on tv for days now, calmly laying out the plan, and he's apparently having some success, but NO ONE is pressing him for the most important part.

His plan (as near as I can tell) is :

mandated (okay by me, IF the price is fair)
"just like what HE has"..

I would like a few things addressed..(has anyone got the inside skinny on this?)

How much is the US government ponying up for insuance coverage. It's pretty useless to know what the senator/congresscritter/govt.employee's share is, if we do not know what the TOTAL cost is.

getting "access" to a marketplace of insurance options, just like the government people have, is of little use, if the individual has to pay the total cost.. (That's COBRA, by another name)

For a person working for $10 an hour, at a place with no coverage, this means they either have to convince their bos to pick up the same amount that the government does, or they have to pay it all on their own,. I have heard the figure $10K tossed around; If that's correct (for a family plan), and the employee pays $200 a month, who's going to pay the other $7600.00? a boss with 4 or 5 other employees? (that's $38K). Can a $10 an hour person afford to pay $200 a month AND co-pays?

I think Ole Ron is showing us apples & charging us for oranges.
