Hitch A Yank

ACERBIC Brit Christopher Hitchens refers to Washington, D.C., as his hometown - and now he's making it official. Hitchens was in Paris Wednesday, where he told a group of journalists that he was about to officially become an American citizen, having applied for his green card years back. "His first item of business as a Yank will be to start a U.S. cricket team," our source giggled.

1. What if Natural Citizens complain?
Edited on Sun Apr-15-07 10:19 AM by ThomWV
If natural (born here) citizens were to complain to the NIS would his petition be denied? Do we have any say in who can and can not become citizens? Interesting question. Should any of us have the ability to essentially 'black-ball' any applicant for citizenship?

2. Not sure. List might include: Jack Daniels, Jose Cuervo, Old Overholt,...
all write-ins. Depends if he can make to the polling place.

7. Just thinking that he must have drained Britain and must
head to more "wet" pastures.

3. The GOP can have him...
I am tired of Hitchens being described as a liberal, he acted as a shill for this administration's mass slaughter in Iraq and no progressive would ever do what he did. I wish the guy would come straight out and admit he is a right-wing Republican instead of using us and giving the right-wing a person to point to and say "see even the liberals agree with us". Hitchens is not one of us, and I am not going to let him pretend to be one of us.

6. He's been doing his shtick so long there is ZERO credibility to any claim he's a "liberal".
All he ever does is shill for shrubco and bash any Democrat, in most vehement fashion.

Dude reminds me of more disheveled, British version of "Booger" from "Revenge of the Nerds".

4. Just what we need.
Another stupid, drunken, irresponsible, self-aggrandizing republicker. Like we don't have enough of them, already.

One of the fundamental tenets of accepting immigrants was that they had to represent something we have need of. I cannot see that we have any need of that ignorant shill.

5. Cry for this country...
Not because Hitchens will become a citizen - hey, he earned it at a bullshit-slinging job, like a lot of people - but because he is still in some quarters considered to be an exemplar of the LEFT.

8. LOL...if Hitchens is a lefty, I must be so far to the left I can be considered
a serious communist bordering on having the soul of Stalin in me...:D

He's about as far left as Cheney and Limbaugh!

Edited on Sun Apr-15-07 10:49 AM by Aviation Pro
...can a naturalized citizen have his citizenship revoked and can he be deported back to, say, Australia? (Also, can all his assets be confiscated)?

11. Jesus! I though he already WAS. .
Someone explain to me WHY he's been given so many platforms to tell us what to do and how to do it for so long without actually being a citizen of this Country he's so eager to dictate to?

13. Depends on how drunk he is at the time. If Jack Daniels is on the ballot,
all bets are off.
