4. Bite the Bullet..... they used to give you a lead bullet, to bite. placed under a bad tooth.. every

body had one or more then, it would cause enough distraction pain to get you thu the amputation without anesthesias. i saw a photo of one said to have been an archaeological specimen from a battle field hospital.. a 50 cal bullet flattened pretty good with well defined tooth marks. the lead apparently wouldn't chip the teeth. there was pretty good anesthesias then but with thousands and thousands of wounded that were bound to run out,
