New cheney Taking Stage for the G.O.P.
as if her father didn't fuck up the world enough

NASHVILLE — Liz Cheney looks nothing like her father, but it is clear who he is. She was introduced as “our favorite vice president’s daughter” at a recent gathering of conservative women here. She kept invoking him in her speech, conveying his best regards, and likes to share cute stories about Dad trying to master his new BlackBerry.

Like her father, Ms. Cheney speaks in understated, almost academic cadences, head veering down into her notes. She also shares his willingness to pummel President Obama in stark, disdainful tones, not so much criticizing as taunting him.

“Mr. President, in a ticking time-bomb scenario, with American lives at stake,” she said, “are you really unwilling to subject a terrorist to enhanced interrogation to get information that would prevent an attack?”

By speech’s end, the crowd was standing, and the former vice president’s daughter was being mobbed for photos and hounded to run for office.

Liz Cheney is “a red state rock star,” declared Rebecca Wales, one of the organizers of this event, the “Smart Girls Summit.”

25. No, that's the scary part, she's not dumb. She's Dick Jr.
and he's one serious, bad-ass assaholic, war-mongering neo-con.

Instilling fear is their family trademark.

Sorta like the Cheney branch of 'Fear R Us'.

8. Liz looks "nothing like her father?" On what planet?
She is the spitting image of Dick "Dick" Cheney, right down the sneer and hand gestures. She's Dick in blond wig, fer chrissake! How can they say she looks nothing like him?! She should be called Dickless Cheney.

11. Liz is even more delusional than her father is
“Mr. President, in a ticking time-bomb scenario"

When has a ticking time-bomb scenario happened in real life? Last time I checked, reality is not based off of 24.

The man is an American Institution. It's her patriotic duty to keep his message out there.

17. The GOOP Glass Ceiling...

That Lizzy is quite a work...the arrogance her father with the ugly (not looks...it goes far, far deeper) of her mother.

She can be a "rock star", but she'll never be a real power broker in the party since she has the wrong type of plumbing. Women are still second class in the GOOP...those that are elected "know their place". Yes, they chose Mooselini last year but that was a cynical and desperate ploy. Had Gramps thought he could really win, he would have chosen someone else.

Lizzy may be able to win the Senate seat from Wyomming but as thing currently stand, the "old boys" in the party aren't ready to move aside for a woman...no matter how nasty and vile she is.

18. Liz Cheney uses a technique in speaking that makes my skin
crawl: "Mr. President, in a ticking time-bomb scenario, with American lives at stake,” she said, “are you really unwilling to subject a terrorist to enhanced interrogation to get information that would prevent an attack?”

I hate it when a speaker asks a question of someone who isn't there. I hate it when someone asks and answers questions in a self-interrogation: "Does this sort of thing bother me?" "Yes, it does!"
Do I think I can get over it?" "No, I don't."

I hate it when someone says something rude, arrogant, demeaning, or disgusting and appends 'just sayin' pretending that it will make it acceptable.

Rant over.

20. Her question also includes three false assumptions...
1) that the ticking time-bomb scenario actually happens in real life
2) that torture is the only to elicit the information required
3) that torture is an effective way to elicit accurate information

22. And why must "torture" be sugar coated as "enhanced interrogation
techniques"?

Your #3 says it well - torture doesn't necessarily gather good information. Many, if not most, people will say anything they think the torturer wants to hear just to make it stop. This could likely cause bomb search teams to waste valuable time chasing false leads.
