The dirty 30% who support bush are not as scary as 30% of the world who HATE us
Edited on Sun Jan-28-07 05:16 PM by SoCalDem
Deep down he's probably as scared as he was just before Babs smacked his ass for wetting his pants. His shenanigans have cemented a movement against our whole country.. all of us. That movement has 30% of the whole world's population, and they hate us with a white hot hatred.

This is a YOUNG population with millions of underemployed young men who are religiously indoctrinated to follow their death-cult leaders.

It's one thing to scoop up an errant scorpion and deposit it outside, but it's another to go looking for them, and start poking them with sticks.

Accurate figures are almost impossible, but the best estimates place most of the world's Muslim population now outside the Middle East. By 2025, it is projected that Muslims will make up about 30 percent of the world population and Christians about 25 percent. Already, there are about 5 million Muslims in the United States, about the same number as Jews and ahead of the Presbyterian Church USA, with 3.5 million.

1. Bush's policies may have sealed our doom.
It is heartbreaking to see how the impression of America abroad has changed since the Clinton years. Now even our friends don't like us!

2. there is a flaw in that logic
The dirty 30% are highly likely to support another PNAC neo-con for President in 2008 and further, to support Republican war-mongering and enabling liars for Congress in 2008 and beyond. Many of them either want to pick a fight with muslims or accept the premise that most muslims are our enemies regardless of what we do. The dirty 30% are fully prepared to fight Bush's fire with gasoline.

3. That's why it's so important to the 70% of us to push back..HARD
This may be our LAST best chance to do it, or your possibility WILL happen.

These freaks are just itching to let loose some nukes...just to see what happens..:grr:

10. When I was 6 I went on a serious Honey Nut Cheerio binge and to this day
I still can't look a Honey Nut Cheerio in the face. :puke:

Sometimes these decisions, made ever so young, haunt us our entire lives no matter what we do...

5. I understand your intent is to show why we shouldn't be making more enemies
But your post sounds extremely RW in tone. It has all the ingredients,
(1) Demographic scare ("they're out-breeding us!")
(2) Us vs Them ("They hate us!") and
(3) Dehumanizing speech ("scorpions")

Not to mention that it simplistically clubs all Muslim people together as a single, unified 'enemy' (in the manner of Samuel Huntington).

12. never heard of Huntington, and i'm not RW, by ANY stretch
I DO consider the Iraq debacle as a scorpion's nest (scorpions do have a place, but it's best to leave them alone so they can do their own thing) I debated about using "bees" :)..

The rest is just a FACT.
Muslims around the world DO hate us (our policies)

They ARE a young population

The US needs to take a step back and quit "declaring war" on people we do not (our leaders) understand.

There will always be people who do things differently. It does not mean that WE have the obligation to "change their ways".

17. Are you sure this war was even about "changing their ways"?
I consider it an imperialist war for resources and domination of the region. Not that I'd support a "change their ways" war (or any war except in self-defense) but your argument shifts the blame away from the aggressor (us). The danger of using such arguments to oppose war is that they're unprincipled and opportunistic. Would you support wars of aggression if we could somehow "win" them?

As for the hatred thing: Do you believe that the hatred "we" have for "them" is any less? I can't even count the number of times I've heard the "turn the entire ME into a parking lot" argument. If that isn't hatred, what is?

8. More than the Muslim community hates us too (the other 30)
I guess the remaining 10% are too busy trying to feed themselves to worry about who we even are.

13. Well...
Is it possible that we may be able to make things right? I mean, a few trials for treason, lots of pubs in jail, and some kind pennance for the error of our country's ways?

16. The Republicans are worse in practical terms
because they colluded with Iran when it suited them (Iran/Contra) and Bushco colluded with al-Qaeda (whether directly or indirectly) to facilitate 9/11.

America is fighting terrorism with one hand tied behind its back.
