Dear Democrats: Use it or lose it.
The expanded version:

Dear Democrats:

In 2008 we gave you all the power you need to enact the changes you've been promising us. Large majorities in the House. A filibuster-proof majority in the Senate. The Presidency. Now you have the majority, you have the power. Use it or lose it. And a note to the "conservadems" - it won't be the liberals who will lose their seats, it will be you.

You're so worried about your "conservative constituents" voting you out, but you know what? They only voted for you last time because they were fed up with the way things were. If they don't see any change, any improvement in their lives from having voted Democrat for the first time (for some, and for others for the first time in a generation), they won't be voting for you again.

You have the power. Use it or lose it.

1. "Oh, I'm sorry..you must have misunderstood..."
"Did we say we needed a majority?....we meant a supermajority.....Oh...I'm sorry, you thought supermajority meant 60 Senate seats?....oh, no no no.....I meant we need 60 "progressive" senators to get anything done. But don't take that to mean you should support primary opponents to the ones who aren't progressive. We love them and want them to say. I guess basically what we're trying to say is....this is our club...this is how it is...if you want something.....well just fuck you then."

7. I was thinking I made it up...?
;-)

Seriously, I'm sure somebody somewhere has said the same thing. I just didn't have any particular instance that I knew of... just saying it for myself.

9. And, on that note...
How many times do we have to tell them before they "get" it??

BTW, your sig reminds me of one I retired after Obama was elected, and may have to re-instate:

"A nation of sheep will beget a government of wolves."
-- Edward R. Murrow

Or the original which I believe he was quoting (slightly off):

"A society of sheep must, in time, beget a government of wolves."
-- Bertrand de Juvenal

Or perhaps I should use this one:

"The most potent weapon of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed."
--Steven Biko

11. And to your sig line, I reply;
"The avalanche has begun, it is too late for the pebbles to vote" - Kosh
I still think Babylon 5 is the best SF series ever made.
:hi:

5. They're going to lose it.
I predict that our majority will be down to 53 votes after the midterms.

10. Yes, they only won because the people in those "red" districts
were sick of what was going on, and wanted change. So they held their noses and voted for the "other guy." If they don't see any sort of improvement, they'll go back to "the devil they know."
