He apparently keeps talking about "precedent" -- but in this country we have laws to protect children from abuse by their parents.

Hoo boy, now I'm going to hear from guys who are sorry their parents had them circumcised by a doctor or possibly a rabbi. I'm not against circumcision as such -- but both medical doctors and mohels are given a lot of training and don't do the procedure with box cutters.

I don't think his behavior is acceptable, particularly since the mothers were scared to death of him, and this probably is part of a pattern of violence and domination on his part.

Psychologically this is supposed to represent the point in human development where a god told his believers that human sacrifice was no longer necessary or desirable, and that a wee bit of flesh off an important male body part would be a sufficient sign of a covenant. It was considered an advance at the time.
