Am I a socialist?
What I want for America:
a job for everyone who wants one
schools that are clean, well lit and safe. Where the kids have text books that aren't out of date and shared.
Enough food far all.
Easy access to medical care. We don't need insurance, we need health care.
Safety on the streets.
So what do you think? Am I a socialist?

1. Worse...
Sounds like your one of those real Americans.

You should be ashamed of yourself, now go take out a loan you can't afford to pay back. The banks need you.

And a big welcome to DU by the way :hi:!

5. You appreciate socialist policies.
Don't tell anyone though. You have to keep it secret. Socialist policies by a different name smell as sweet.

6. Depends upon how you (on an average) perceive the dialectic.
50:50 Individualist:Socialist (which, to me, would be static), or some variation on n+:n- or n-:n+ Individualist:Socialist - and, of course, an average implies that there is variation over time, in this case, in your perception of the dialectic.

9. The Interstate Freeway System: Socialist. We already have socialism.
The U.S. economy would collapse without it.

12. I believe the Chinese are communist
No. I want healthy business, factories up and running again, small stores so eveything doesn't have to come from places like Walmart
food for all in that our citizens will have work that pays a living wage.
Health care doesn't mean walking into an ER. It costs 100s of dallars to walk in the door, let alone the care and tests.
Considering the republicans have have had their hands around our throats, they own what has happened to this country.

15. What sickens me is this demonization of the word "government" and people who work for gov't
Edited on Sun Oct-04-09 10:21 PM by Selatius
When will people wake up to the fact that "government" is just a word? It's the people in those offices who run things. If you elect a person to office, then you are responsible for removing him and replacing him with somebody who will undo the fucking damage.

Sure, you had a douche bag in the White House who put bad people into office. Own up to the fucking mistake and remove the bastard. I got friends who live in D.C. Some of them are government employees. They do one hell of a job.

Who the fuck did you vote for back in 2000 and 2004? George W. Bush?

14. You are ... Franklin D. Roosevelt when he delivered his final State of the Union Address
It became known as the Second Bill of Rights:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_Bill_of_Rights

He wanted these for all Americans:

The right to a useful and remunerative job in the industries or shops or farms or mines of the nation;

The right to earn enough to provide adequate food and clothing and recreation;

The right of every farmer to raise and sell his products at a return which will give him and his family a decent living;

The right of every businessman, large and small, to trade in an atmosphere of freedom from unfair competition and domination by monopolies at home or abroad;

The right of every family to a decent home;

The right to adequate medical care and the opportunity to achieve and enjoy good health;

The right to adequate protection from the economic fears of old age, sickness, accident, and unemployment;

The right to a good education.
