"This whole ACORN mess breaks my heart. They've been out there doing some of the toughest grassroots political work imaginable for years and years, hiring from the neighborhoods, expanding the voting franchise, helping the neediest people in our country. And they have been the very convenient target of the racist right wing during all that time, for all the obvious reasons. It's painful to see the Democrats cut and run when the right finally gets some wingnut porn to run with.

ACORN is rightly thanking one of the few defenders they've had in the media, Rachel Maddow, whose work on this has been magnificent."

8. The rest of the media is not even using "alleged" when talking about

The ACORN workers accused of doing whatever they are supposed to have done. CNN and MSNBC regular news broadcasts have both said that the "filmmakers" posed as prostitute and pimp, but did not say that charges were being considered against them in at least one state. Neither have said one time anything about the obvious editing that was used to distort the conversations. Neither have said that at least one other ACORN office filed a police report about a couple, likely Keefe and a woman, trying to pull the same thing and being turned away.

I don't watch regular network news so I am not familiar with their coverage, but with what I am seeing ACORN is being badly treated, just the way they were about the supposed voter registration stuff. And not one broadcast that I have seen mentions that although allegations were made, no charges were ever made against ACORN the organization and that ACORN assisted in the prosecution of their employees who broke the law.
