1. Oh, that is so sweet!
This is the picture that made me go, "Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!"

I just want to know that there are creatures like that living where and how they are supposed to live.

2. It should be "and I want one to be happy in the wild with its family
where it feels at home".

12. Sorry, I am such a poop.
But certain phrases get my goat up, but I don't have a goat, so I just poop instead.

8. That might be the most preferable situation, but sometimes the captive animals
are the best chance of survival for a species since many of them are threatened with extinction in the wild.

A rare nocturnal forest creature, the pygmy hippopotamus is a difficult animal to study in the wild. Pygmy hippos were unknown outside of West Africa until the 19th century. Introduced to zoos in the early 20th century, they breed well in captivity and the vast majority of research is derived from zoo specimens. The survival of the species in captivity is more assured than in the wild: the World Conservation Union estimates that there are fewer than 3,000 pygmy hippos remaining in the wild.<1> Pygmy hippos are primarily threatened by loss of habitat, as forests are logged and converted to farm land, and are also vulnerable to poaching, hunting, natural predators and war.

11. I understand that - I just don't like wild animals as pets.
"It is so cute, I want one" is the typical modern comment - it is so ingrained and so self-centered.

"It is so cute" is just fine.

17. I saw those yesterday!!
Also very cute. Remember the the vietnamese pot bellied pig craze in the 80's? People didn't realize how big they actually got and then they were in over their heads! I have some cousins in Vermont who adopted one who lived in their house with them. They rescued farm animals and also had horses. They live in a refurbished barn in the "hay loft" part and the stalls and everything are underneath for the animals.

Anyway, the floor is brick that is basicly set in cement and one day the pig dug up part of the floor. Well my cousins just fixed the floor and moved on with their life without blaming the pig for being a pig but there aren't a lot of people like that. I come from a family of people who rescue animals and the first thing I thought of when I saw the teacup piggy was Elmer! I wonder how big they get!!!!

I am going to take my chances by saying this but I WANT ONE!

23. How much is that hippo in the window!
I wonder how big they get when they grow up and if they get as nasty as the big ones do as adults.
