2. Could we add an "N?" GTFON(OW)
I'm all for it. And this is a classic bush fuckup. We should have never gone to Iraq, but concentrated our military efforts in Afghanistan in 2002. For voicing such opinion I was verbally accosted by all the fucking "patriots" down here, none of whom ever spent a day in the military and none took me up on my offer to drive them to the Army Recruiting Station.

Get the Fuck out of Afghanistan NOW!

3. Definitely
We need to stop pouring money into something that isn't producing any results what-so-ever: the general who wants to send MORE soldiers in is a total idiot and I'm glad Obama is opposing him - or was, haven't seen the news in a while.

6. You can't just pull everyone out lickety split.
You'll cause more damage than intended if you leave everything in an unstable state. Once your elbow deep in the shit that is the US meddling in the Middle East... you're past the point of no return, so to speak. Yes the people probably hate the soldiers and no our boys don't like being there but only when the state can defend itself adequately can we GTFO.

Could we physically pull out immediately? yes.
Will we? No. It makes no sense at this point in time.

12. If Not Now - When?
You could do a review every six months for the next 10 years to determine if Afgan can defend itself. You would get the same answer - NO. It is a corrupt, tribal oriented, poppy growing, hide in caves, hellhole.

Let's get out now.

13. If they truely believe Afghanistan will never "recover"... then yes, leave now.
Apparently, some in power still feel differently about being able to change the country over there. At some level... their insight and intimacy of the subject matter has to be respected and we must concede that they likely know what the hell they can and can't do moreso than a bunch of internet armchair commandos. At least I hope so... that's why we vote. We voted for an administration change and I'm confident the situation will be resolved or abandoned as soon as possible.

Obama is commander in chief - he'll git'er done. ;)

17. I truly believe that Afghanistan will never recover.
And that, if they do, it will be on their terms, not ours.

That is why I advocate getting the f* out now.

20. I can respect that and feel the same, to be honest.
From my POV, the Middle East region has been plagued with hatred, violence, and war just about as far back as recorded history goes. I don't think we can change the CULTURE... which is the problem.
We can certainly change the government and country but that monumental achievement of such a system will only be superseded by the monumental failure of that system simply because the culture will reject it.
I'm with you... I really am.

But I have to believe that the people I voted for have the knowledge and experience to make more accurate choices and deductions than I can make (given second-hand information via the internet).
Otherwise, what the hell did I vote for. What good is a vote without the respect for leadership it represents?
I'm not knocking you or even discouraging the voicing of your opinion, simply asking for patience.

Rock on! :headbang:

21. Some Lessons From 40 Years Ago
Well yes, I am an internet armchair commando for this war. But I was an active participant in the southeast asia debacle in the 1970s and learned a couple of lessons that I believe I can apply to the current occupation. 1. The money involved in the drug business will corrupt the U.S. endorsed government. Yup. 2. Having control of the capital is not the same as having control of the country. Yup. 3. Our vast military superiority doesn't assure victory over a primitive people with bamboo stakes and hand made tunnels (or EIDs and mountain caves). Yup.

I could go on, but.........

let's bring the troops home now.

18. Sure you can
if one is an armchair general who doesn't know shit about the military. Those people only care about what makes 'sense' to them, not reality.
