Five U.S. soldiers killed in attacks in Iraq on Monday
http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/L16297929.htm

BAGHDAD, April 16 (Reuters) - Insurgents killed five American soldiers in Iraq on Monday, including three in Baghdad, the U.S. military said.

Around 60 U.S. soldiers have been killed in Iraq this month, putting April on course to be one of the deadliest for U.S. forces in many months.

The U.S. military said three soldiers were killed in three separate attacks in Baghdad. Two others were killed in western Anbar province.

12. Maybe because people don't expect to hear about 30+ kids being gunned down on a college campus

Most people expect that people are going to die in a war.

This difference in expectations makes Tech slightly more newsworthy today than Iraq.

17. There is no reason for this...
death, no matter where it takes place, should not be made into a competition. To do so is sick and ghoulish, and you should be ashamed of what you are trying to do all over this board tonight.

9. Yeah, our dead troops are just numbers per Tony Snow
I guess the Virginia Tech students were "real" people.

11. If 60 US. troops were killed tomorrow, would it make any difference? it seems
like we've gotten use to the numbers as part of the bush bullshit!

visit them, pay your respects, read about their families, why they joined, what their hopes were

look at pictures of their kids.

Don't ever let yourself get immune to this.

Turn on Judy Collins and click the "slideshow" link. It is self-torture, perhaps, but they deserve it, and we need to do it to stay sharp. We need our congresspeople looking at those slideshows. At all those 3308 faces. we'll never get bush to care, but we need to care so much we Never Give Up.

19. Bloody April.
I don't think the machine can recruit them as fast as we are losing them.

Enough, George, bloody well ENOUGH.
