McCain the "moderate." What bullshit.

So because John McCain has deviated from the partisan Republican line occasionally, criticized Bush a few times (yet voted for his policies 90 percent of the time), and sometimes seeks bipartisanship, he's a "moderate" Republican?

The only moderate Senators in the Republican Party at this point are two women from Maine.

1. Very true.
McCain's reputation as a 'moderate' is fueled by one progressive stance back in the '90s.

He's the classic case of 'if you get the reputation for getting up early, you can sleep late' and the press - Chris Matthews foremost - let him get away with it.

2. Oh no! He's a maverick war-hero guided only by principles!
Isn't that what the media wants you to believe? Oops.
